A Threat to Our Existence

Born in the land of Gandhi, I inherit non violence. I'm purely against the aggression of US in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why should we fight Pakistan? These were views inside me a few years ago.But I have changed a lot.

Why should Al-Qaeda bomb the WTC?........ May be they envy US or they don't like capitalism.

Why should Lashker-e Taiba Jaish-e Muhammed,Jamat-ud- Dawa declare jihad against India and carry on fidayeen against India?........... May be they like Hindus and want their religious supremacy........and we are not going to bow before them.

Why should LTTE cause tremors of terror in the Island nation?........ May be they want their rights which are denied by the government.

Why should Hamas carry on armed conflict with the rogue Israel?.......... May be they want their country returned and have United Palestine.

Why should the terrorists target the visiting Sri Lankan cricketers?......... I didn't get the answer.
Why? They were the ambassadors of peace and the only ray of hope that penetrated Pakistan when the whole world is reluctant to send their players to there. And everything is clear. They have no agenda but they want to rule the world by terror better to say....... fear of terror. Terrorism seems to be the only means for gaining their respective ends.

Causes of terrorism:
(i) For Instant popularity: An act of violence is enough for gaining instant popularity today rather than resorting to non violent movements for the growth and development of the country. In the wake of 26/11 bombings, ran a series of programmes, obviously not for the sake of providing information to the people but for trps. It may be a wonder that some one doesn't know Ajmal Amir Kasab. Thanks to the press and media. A pub incident made Sri Ram Sene known all over the country.I'm sure only a few educated and the ones interested in GK only know the Magasasay award winners Prakash and Mandakini Amte, who dedicated their lives for service to the society.

Soft policies of the government: The targets of terrorism may be anywhere in the world but the breeding grounds are always the states with soft policies towards the terrorists and extremists The best examples are: 1. Growth of Al-Qaeda during the Taliban rule in Afghanistan. 2.LeT, JuD, JeM are all creations of ISI, Pakistan. 3.Right wing extremism in the BJP ruled states. The communalist ideas of the political parties are also a threat to a secular countries like ours. I wonder why the government is upholding the execution of Abdul Fazal.

For the selfish ends : The mass is always sensitive in any nation, especially a multi-religious and multi-cultural country like ours. Even a single incident can prove drastic. This is long proven from the demolition of Babri Masjid, followed by the Gujarat crisis to the recent massacre of Christians in Kandhamal,Orissa. The demagogues are proving a threat to the of communal harmony for which India is known for.The people are vulnerable especially in the wake of riots and calls by selfish leaders can prove to be grave to many.
How to curb terrorism:
By instilling a sense of patriotism and fraternity among the mass is very helpful.All the investigations in the terror attacks prove that roots of terrorism are in neighboring countries, their branches are spread across the country which provide the accommodation and information so that they can carry on their activities.By instilling the patriotism, we can reduce the attacks especially the planned ones.
They can be curbed by being vigilant and conscious about their movements. Most of the breeding grounds for terrorism are forests, mountains and the areas of which information is little known. The unemployed are easily attracted towards the popular appeals. They go abroad in the name of employment, get trained and attack. Such attacks can be prevented by being regular in getting information about their activities particularly in the suspicious cases.
As a popular practice in agriculture,the pest born in the neighboring field is a threat to our field also.So it is as important as killing the pest in neighboring field as preventing in our field. We should constantly improve the defence and also help the neighbor defend against the pest. The terrorism is a threat that should be fought collectively and effectively, that too before it goes out of our hands.Let's join our hands in killing the menace.
