ARISTON- WE HAVE DONE IT!

A success story need not come from epics or personality development books. You can see many among us, provided you have the heart. In my opinion, there is nothing to cheer when a prince becoming a king because he is destined to do that. It is never a success when you catch the fruit by climbing someone’s shoulders. It also depends on how you perceive it. Success is not a physical element. It’s what you feel in your heart.
When the idea of organising a techfest cropped up in the college, we all had little or no experience in organising such events. We had to initiate. We had to co-ordinate all the branches. We had to make something out of nothing. We didn’t have Gandhis among us to lead. We didn’t have Obamas among us to inspire. Our hope kept our spirits high. We learnt from our mistakes. We worked as a team. And this event is a result of it. I wish to mention a few points about the event, ARISTON-09.

“What does it mean?” You should be wondering,
Even I don’t want to keep you pondering.
It simply means “The Best”,
Similar to our techfest,
Many an obstacle we had to face,
Before, we reached this last lap of the race.
To the questions, “Can you do it?”
We have the answer, “Yes, we have done it!”
With the blessings of the chief patron,
The unending support of the chairman,
The encouragement by the sponsors,
The dedication of the co-ordinators,
The hard work by the members of the event,
The enthusiasm of each participant.
On behalf of everyone who is a part of it,
We are proud to say, “Yes, We have done it!”

I HAVE A DREAM

Hello JNTU,

.

.

.

Some two score and a half years ago,a pilgrim visited this land of non-violence.Got impressed by it.He used it in his nation which is bearing fruits now.He said ‘I have a dream’.Those dreams are transforming to reality today.

The pilgrim was Martin Luther King Jr.What impressed him is non-violence.What he dreamt of is what is happening today in the United States of America….barring the recession!

I am a citizen of this nation.I have the right to dream here. And I want to reveal some of my dreams to you on this auspicious day.I have a dream today.

I am lucky that I’m studying in this prestigious university. But there are many of my brothers and sisters working in the hot sun,for the lack of money.Education has become a commodity that can be bought.

I have a dream where each citizen is guaranteed education free of cost irrespective of his background.

I have my sisters molested, abused and teased in colleges, harassed in houses, discriminated in the society.I don’t understand why they should suffer when we are all born equal. They don’t have even proper representation.I have a dream where all the women are treated equal to men.I have a dream today.

We had our general election conducted just a few months ago.But the opposition parties are busy preparing for the next general election, wasting the valuable time and money from the exchequer..... which is meant for discussing people’s issues.

I dream of a nation where the government is responsible and the opposition is constructive.

I call my dream,my Indian Dream.Come,my brothers and sisters.Let us make our nation numero uno in the world.

We don’t have a North India or South India but Indian Union. We don’t have Hindu India or Muslim India but Indian Union. We don’t have Hindi India or Tamil India but Indian Union. We don’t have rural India or urban India but Indian Union.I have a dream today for a happy India tomorrow.Let a new age down.

A soldier dies in the battle field. Not because he isn’t brave enough. But because he isn’t provided advanced weapons. When the terrorists use the most sophisticated weapons. The planes and ships that the foreign countries are discarding are being inducted into our army.

I have a dream where every weapon in India is made indegeneously.

Where each bud blooms

In its true colors.

Where each day is a celebration of

Unity,Harmony and Synthesis.

Saluting India.

Rahul and the recession

Well, much is spoken about the economic downturn. But everything is seen in general terms.I want to share how the recession influenced me in particular.
I am a student of Information technology, an industry purely based on the health of the economy around the world.
The first shock is in the form of reduced employment in the IT and ITeS companies.Everyday, the newspapers highlight the pink slips being given to the employees in IT majors. Immediately, a moral blow in the form of Satyam fraud, made me skeptic about the credibility of IT companies. The biggest is in the form of announcement by Barack Obama,of whom I'm a great admirer, that his stimulus package is not for the companies that outsource the jobs.
I, before the burst of economy, was always in upbeat mood and had high hopes about my future.I would be getting a job in reputed firm, work with regular salary hikes and promotions. Now everything seems shattered.
Still I have a year to go before the campus recruitments begin and two years before I finish my course.I'm optimistic of getting a job but the very idea of failure is keeping me restless.
So I started searching for alternatives. I got many. The first being the Indian Civil Services,
the evergreen and esteemed job in the country. I'm fond of serving the nation and developed the interest right through my education. So I thought it would be better to for me to prepare for the services and started my preparation. The second is pursuing MBA. But it is better after a few years of experience in the industry. The third being M.Tech for which I'm quiet against.
The recession was not entirely bad for me. It gave an opportunity to learn how the economy is controlled by the central institutions, how various sectors from basic agriculture to huge automobile and infrastructure. It instilled interest in me about rather boring economics.
There are thousands of students like me and in the same state as I.It is never helpful breaking down. There are many opportunities at our doorstep provided you open the door.So being optimistic is all we can do, work hard and land in a good job.

A Threat to Our Existence

Born in the land of Gandhi, I inherit non violence. I'm purely against the aggression of US in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why should we fight Pakistan? These were views inside me a few years ago.But I have changed a lot.

Why should
Al-Qaeda bomb the WTC?........ May be they envy US or they don't like capitalism.

Why should Lashker-e Taiba Jaish-e Muhammed,Jamat-ud- Dawa declare jihad against India and carry on fidayeen against India?........... May be they like Hindus and want their religious supremacy........and we are not going to bow before them.

Why should LTTE cause tremors
of terror in the Island nation?........ May be they want their rights which are denied by the government.

Why should Hamas carry on armed conflict with the rogue Israel?.......... May be they want their country returned and have United Palestine.

Why should the terrorists target the visiting Sri Lankan cricketers?......... I didn't get the answer.
Why? They were the ambassadors of peace and the only ray of hope that penetrated Pakistan when the whole world is reluctant to send their players to there.
And everything is clear. They have no agenda but they want to rule the world by terror better to say....... fear of terror. Terrorism seems to be the only means for gaining their respective ends.

Causes of terrorism:
(i) For Instant popularity: An act of violence is enough for gaining instant popularity today rather than resorting to non violent movements for the growth and development of the country. In the wake of 26/11 bombings, ran a series of programmes, obviously not for the sake of providing information to the people but for trps. It may be a wonder that some one doesn't know Ajmal Amir Kasab. Thanks to the press and media. A pub incident made Sri Ram Sene known all over the country.I'm sure only a few educated and the ones interested in GK only know the Magasasay award winners Prakash and Mandakini Amte, who dedicated their lives for service to the society.

Soft policies of the government:
The targets of terrorism may be anywhere in the world but the breeding grounds are always the states with soft policies towards the terrorists and extremists The best examples are: 1. Growth of Al-Qaeda during the Taliban rule in Afghanistan. 2.LeT, JuD, JeM are all creations of ISI, Pakistan. 3.Right wing extremism in the BJP ruled states. The communalist ideas of the political parties are also a threat to a secular countries like ours. I wonder why the government is upholding the execution of Abdul Fazal.

For the selfish ends : The mass is always sensitive in any nation, especially a multi-religious and multi-cultural country like ours. Even a single incident can prove drastic. This is long proven from the demolition of Babri Masjid, followed by the Gujarat crisis to the recent massacre of Christians in Kandhamal,Orissa. The demagogues are proving a threat to the of communal harmony for which India is known for.The people are vulnerable especially in the wake of riots and calls by selfish leaders can prove to be grave to many.
How to curb terrorism:

By instilling a sense of patriotism and fraternity among the mass is very helpful. All the investigations in
the terror attacks prove that roots of terrorism are in neighboring countries, their branches are spread across the country which provide the accommodation and information so that they can carry on their activities.By instilling the patriotism, we can reduce the attacks especially the planned ones.
They can b
e curbed by being vigilant and conscious about their movements. Most of the breeding grounds for terrorism are forests, mountains and the areas of which information is little known. The unemployed are easily attracted towards the popular appeals. They go abroad in the name of employment, get trained and attack. Such attacks can be prevented by being regular in getting information about their activities particularly in the suspicious cases.
As a popular practice in agriculture, the pest born in the neighboring field is a threat to our field also.So it is as important as killing the pest in neighboring field as preventing in our field. We should constantly improve the defence and also help the neighbor defend against the pest.
The terrorism is a threat that should be fought collectively and effectively, that too before it goes out of our hands.Let's join our hands in killing the menace.

Fight the recession- Think Positive

"Brain Drain","selling our brains for dollars",etc... These were the buzzwords in Indian Education and political fields all these days. But the protectionist policies of Obama's government, restricting the H1B visa holders' employment has brought new woes to India. The ailing economy, rising unemployment...all are dominating the headlines. But we can never come into light unless we stop thinking about the darkness. Let us search for the light than grieve in dark
The Indian cream out of the esteemed institutions is one of the best in the world. We have exported it all these years. The research and development has been put on back foot for the lack of this cream. Not that we don't have R&D, but compared to billion plus population what we have is infinitesimal. The higher education and the universities suffered for the lack of qualified faculty. The Indian Industry though seems to be vibrant, has more number of foreign enterprises exploiting the Indian market. The defence is also dependent on other countries for most of the weapons procurement and development.
We can use the cream. We can get back the job losers from other countries and give them oppurtinity at home. They are well aware of the International scenario. Let us not treat them as a burden. Rather, they can be better enterpreneurs compared to to the MNCs- who use our resources, make profits here and dump money to other countries, that too at the cost
of innumerable incentives and tax holidays given by the government to attract them.
We already have many Indian companies flying the colors of "Brand India" all over the world. They can be a catalyst to strengthen our position in the International arena, so that we cannot fear a job cut in our country due to a recession elsewhere.
The total number of innovations and patents by India are not significant but the these held by Idiand are plenty.Confused? Yes, many Indians are employed in research all over the world. We are the ones who sent them away by not creating necessary employement
Thanks to the recession, we get another oppurtinity for us to involve them in research . Let us make the universities research oriented. For, they can provide both employement and create new employement oppurtunities.
Let us look at the recesion through optimistic lens. Still we are on of the fastest growing countries in spite of all the heavy odds. It is an oppurtunity for us to catch the best and boost our economy at the earliest. There can be no better oppurtunity to attract them.
Let's Think positive.

My Republidc day Speech.

Hello JNTU,

Honorable chief guest, Respected Heads of the Departments, Respected teaching faculty and all my dear friends.

I convey my warm wishes to everyone in this nation. All of you have finished some 14-15 years of education and I believe that you are well aware of the importance of this day.

Let me speak something relevant to today’s scenario.

Once on youtube I came across a speech delivered by Barack Obama. It was dated 4th November 2008, the same day he was elected the president of the United States of America.

He started

“Hello Chicago,

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where everything is possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is still alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy. Tonight is your answer.”

A single sentence! A simple question! He answered it. But that night I had a big debate with my friends on this question. I hurt me as an Indian. If someone asks the same question in India, I think the answer would be a blunt “No”.

But as a citizen of this country, with the meager knowledge of the current issues, I tried to find some solutions and will present a few before you.

Our nation has a population of 1.15 billion. When we ask someone te problems facing the country the first would be population. Why go for negative aspects . There are many countries in the world whose population densities more than our country, resources less than our nation. Still they are progressing. Let us be optimistic. We have a huge resource-“the human resource.” This can be the greatest force ever in the world for development.

What we need is a change. A change in our ideology. A change we can we can believe in.

Till the recent crash down of the IT sector India is the favorite destination for outsourcing. But a crash down some where in The United States had its impact on our jobs. Do we really depend on others for our jobs? No……… Yes. Both are correct. We are not dependent but are made dependent.

We have some around 350,000 engineers graduating in India as against 80,000 in The US. And it is going to touch around 1.400,000 by 2015.And the percent of Science and engineering graduates in our country is higher than China and US.A thing for us to celebrate.

But the celebration ends here. But where does the seed go? We have a meager 6,500 PhDs in Science and engineering. We have only around 2.16% of world’s research papers published. We can see how awkward the quality of education is. We have neglected the core research and gone after the lucrative IT jobs. We have to change.

Our government has 105,600 crores for the defense budget and the total education budget is only one-third of it. Of which only 85 crores is given for encouraging research. I don’t say that defense should be neglected. But instead of buying missiles, ships and war planes, why can’t we invest a part of it in research and get these made at a fraction of what we are spending, with the help of our second army i.e. the educated youth.

I think we should change, change our priorities- a change we can believe in.

Another key is politics. An issue that kept us excited for over two years is the American Presidential election. We have seen President Obama fight with Hillary Clinton right from the Primary. But after his victory they pledged to work together. After that he fought with Senator McCain. After he won over him they pledged to fight- not against each other, but to fight for their country. We cannot see that here where the ruling and the opposition fight against each other neglecting the common goals i.e. the welfare of the nation.

Another thing to celebrate is that a young Indian American Bobby Jindal is going to give the keynote address at the Republican Convention at Washington in March. But here the old politicians vie for key posts as exposed in Jharkhand ……….not allowing the young blood to come in.

What we need is a change- a change in our politics. A change we can believe in.

So my friends if you have the same dreams as I, the same zeal as I, the same passion as I.

Let us change. Let us start a revolution.

A revolution need not come from millions. A revolution can change a man. A man can change a few. A few can change hundreds. Hundreds can change thousands. Thousands can change millions. Millions can change a billion. And that billion is our nation.

Thank You.
